Argentina and England have been fouling each other left and right, and neither side was happy with the officiating.
And when the players congregated around head official Ismail Elfath, Messi and Bellingham began to trade words.
It was Bellingham who appeared to get the last word in, leaving Messi looking a bit stunned before walking off.
He gave Bellingham a snarky look and waved him off with his head on the way off the field.
Fans immediately took to social media to try figuring out what was said between Messi and Bellingham.
“Messi went to the ref for something else because Bellingham simply wasn’t listening,” one fan said.
“Time to find out who was all talk,” another fan said.
“THAT WAS THE HEATED EXCHANGE. THE GAME IS ON,” a third fan said.
This certainly won’t be the end of the banter between the two sides.
Three yellow cards have already been given and over 20 fouls have been committed.
