Now, in order to comfortably get back into the role, the star actor has revealed the strict diet he has been following in order to be able to slip back into his infamous waistcoat.
Ahead of filming this Spring, the actor told The Times : “Before I start a new project I do this thing called the Whole30 organic diet – orchestrated by my wife, who, unlike me, is a phenomenal cook – where you totally cut out sugar.
“Yesterday she made chicken wings, asparagus, cabbage and a miso sauce for lunch, which all helps me fit nicely into my Steve Arnott waistcoat.”
He had also previously revealed his excitement about getting back into the role with Digital Spy , telling the outlet: “I do like my waistcoats.
“That and I just like , it’s a great city to film in and [me, and are] genuinely, really close pals.
“So getting to spend proper time with them again is a joy but yeah, when you pull that waistcoat on in the morning, do that accent.
“Yeah, I can feel him creeping into me.”
The Sun previously told BBC bosses would be bringing the show back for a seventh season following an underwhelming reaction to what was supposed to be the show’s final outing in 2026.
A TV insider said: “There was genuine anger about the way series six ended and that was part of the reason that a seventh outing was ordered.
“But this is the first time that there’s been any news on whether they’ll bring back the ‘H’ storyline — and devotees will be thrilled to hear [writer] Jed will be giving them just what they want.
“Although there is still likely to be a new villain introduced into the new season, just as there has been with every series since the show was launched.
“But the incoming baddie’s storyline is likely to be intertwined with that of ‘H’ in a sensational double-whammy.”
The hugely anticipated finale had 12.8million viewers on the night — which later rose to 17million when 28-day catch-up watches on iPlayer were counted.
It was the most-watched drama episode, excluding soaps, since modern records began in 2002.
