A LEGENDARY Arc de Triomphe and King George-winning jockey has retired with immediate effect.

Germany’s greatest ever jockey Andrasch Starke has called time on his 36-year career.

He reached the summit of racing aboard awesome mare Danedream in 2011 when they won the Paris-Longchamp feature in a record time.

Sent off 20-1, she scorched down the straight to win by five lengths in a time that has never been bettered.

Starke and Danedream, who was put down three years ago, then won the King George at Ascot the following summer.

A legend at home and abroad, Starke, 52, retires having won almost 3,000 races.
