Lee Jin Uk Breaks Down The Hidden Layers Of His Lawyer Role In “Beyond The Bar”

Lee Jin Uk has shared his thoughts about his upcoming JTBC drama “Beyond the Bar”;!

“Beyond the Bar”; is an office drama that follows Kang Hyo Min ( Jung Chaeyeon ), an upstanding and confident yet socially awkward rookie attorney at the law firm Yullim. Under the mentorship of Yoon Seok Hoon (Lee Jin Uk), a cold but exceptionally skilled partner attorney, Hyo Min gradually grows into a true lawyer as she navigates the challenges of the legal world.

When asked what drew him to “Beyond the Bar,”; Lee Jin Uk shared, “I found his character interesting—I keep questioning if Yoon Seok Hoon is a character who pursues true justice or merely follows his client’s definition of it. I was also impressed by how the drama deals with cases where good and evil aren’t clearly defined.”;

He continued, “Just as no one is only one color, Yoon Seok Hoon is the same. He may appear cold, but there’s a clear reason behind it. Even in his stern and decisive manner of speaking, there’s a strong sense of conviction and justice. Sometimes he even seems like someone who would prefer animals over people, and that unexpected side makes him an even more multidimensional character.”; He added, “He’s also someone who brings catharsis when acting him out, because there’s something so refreshingly straightforward about him,”; piquing curiosity about his character.

Choosing “trust and responsibility”; as Yoon Seok Hoon’s defining keywords, Lee Jin Uk explained, “I think giving and receiving trust while taking responsibility are values Seok Hoon holds dear.”; He added, “If I had to attach a phrase to him, it would be ‘Just trust me.’ He gives off the reassuring vibe of someone who can resolve anything.”;

Finally, he spoke about his efforts to portray Yoon Seok Hoon. “Because the drama depicts how lawyers develop flexible thinking, I kept asking myself what kind of person Seok Hoon would be, given that he has a somewhat rigid side,”; he said. “I imagined what his everyday life would look like—how someone who always appears confident and upright would behave outside of work—and used that to approach the character.”;

“Beyond the Bar”; will premiere on August 2 at 10:40 p.m. KST.
