Lee Je Hoon recently sat down with magazine ELLE Korea to discuss his upcoming film “Big Deal”;; and more!
Set during the 1997 IMF financial crisis, “Big Deal”;; will tell the story of Pyo Jong Rok (Yoo Hae Jin), a chief financial officer who treats his soju company like family, and Choi In Bum (Lee Je Hoon), a profit-driven employee at a global investment firm. The two men, whose values and personalities couldn’t be more different, wind up clashing over the future of Korea’s beloved national liquor.
Talking about “Big Deal,”;; which is set to be released on May 30, he shared, “This type of movie genre is rare in Korea, so expectations are high. The younger generation who did not experience the 1997 IMF crisis may find it interesting to compare the past and present through the film.”;;
Lee Je Hoon, whose drama “The Art of Negotiation”;; aired its final episode last month, is currently juggling filming the second season of “Signal”;; and the third season of “Taxi Driver”;; while promoting “Big Deal.”;;
When asked if he feels more alive when busy, Lee Je Hoon explained that as soon as one project ends, he immediately moves on to the next, and rather than finding being so busy exhausting, he actually finds it energizing.
When asked about a city he’d like to visit right now, he revealed, “I want to wander aimlessly through the streets of New York. I also want to visit the independent theaters there.”;;
Lee Je Hoon, who has a deep passion for Korean cinema, commented, “In my daily life, movies are my only joy. Whether in theaters or at home, I enjoy exploring the production process of movies by watching behind-the-scenes content on OTT platforms or DVDs.”;;
When asked about what he wants to achieve right now, he remarked, “I believe opportunities come to those who take action. I want to keep dreaming and live a life where I move toward those dreams, even if it’s little by little.”;;
