JTBC’s upcoming drama “The Nice Guy”; has unveiled new stills featuring Lee Dong Wook!
The noir drama “The Nice Guy”; will tell the story of Park Seok Chul (Lee Dong Wook), the eldest grandson of a third-generation gangster family with an unexpectedly pure heart, and his first love Kang Mi Young (Lee Sung Kyung), who dreams of becoming a singer.
Lee Dong Wook plays Park Seok Chul, a man who once dreamed of becoming a novelist like Ernest Hemingway but reluctantly turned to the gangster life to survive. Known for his steady perseverance, Park Seok Chul decides to turn his life around. Just as he makes that choice, he crosses paths once again with his first love Kang Mi Young and is swept back into the turbulence of life.
The newly released stills offer a glimpse into the harsh reality of Park Seok Chul’s world. In one image, he leans against a subway window, his face bruised and weary as he struggles to breathe. The empty look in his eyes, as if he might collapse at any moment, adds a sense of tension and danger.
In contrast, another photo captures Park Seok Chul with a rare and gentle smile, suggesting a possible shift ahead. Despite years spent in a criminal organization, he has quietly held on to the tender heart of a young man who once loved literature. Now, he begins a desperate fight to protect what matters most. Whether light will finally reach his cold and lonely life remains to be seen.
Lee Dong Wook shared why he chose the project, saying, “I wanted to work with director Song Hae Sung and writer Kim Woon Kyung. I began this project out of respect for both of them, as they have spent many years on set.”;
He added, “After spending the past few years acting mainly in [non-romance] genres and fantasy projects, I wanted to try a romance drama. That was also one of the reasons I chose this role,”; building anticipation for an emotionally rich performance from Lee Dong Wook.
“The Nice Guy”; is set to premiere on July 18 at 8:50 p.m. KST. The drama will air two consecutive episodes every Friday, marking the start of JTBC’s lineup. Stay tuned!
