An Abuja-based attorney, Barrister Victor Giwa, has requested the intervention of the Director-General of the National Intelligence Agency (NIA) regarding an alleged unlawful intrusion on a property situated at Plot 1682, Zone 7 Wuse by officers of the agency.

The attorney, representing A and R International Investment Limited, in a letter dated October 14, 2025, addressed to the NIA DG, stated that following the unauthorized entry and trespass on the property, the intruders have begun to damage certain areas of the premises.

Giwa, Lead Partner at Victor Giwa and Associates, informed the DG that as one of the premier security agencies in the country, the NIA's personnel should refrain from such unprofessional behavior. He noted that the aforementioned property has been occupied and managed by his clients through their agents since 2009, yet has been unlawfully taken over and barricaded by armed NIA officers.

Giwa remarked, “This occupation and trespass occurred shortly after our clients’ agent obtained a court order to evict individuals who had occupied some flats for several years without paying rent.”

“All attempts to inquire about the reasons for the occupation and trespass of our clients’ property by your armed officers have been unsuccessful and were met with threats.”

“It was also discovered that soon after the unlawful intrusion and trespass on the property, the intruders began to damage parts of the premises.”

“It is based on this alarming situation that we, as counsel, have written to you to urgently address this matter.”

“Sir, we assert that the actions of your officers on the property are intimidating, unlawful, and illegal, aimed at forcibly seizing our clients’ property without legal authority.”

“We believe that as one of the leading security agencies in the nation, your officers should not be associated with such conduct.”

“Our inquiry at the Abuja Geographical Information System (AGIS) confirms that the property remains under the Certificate of Occupancy (C of O) belonging to our clients. Attached is a copy of the C of O and the property search report for your review.”

“We hereby request that you instruct the withdrawal of your officers from our clients’ property immediately to allow them to resume use of their premises.”
