Lawmaker calls for urgent security reinforcement in Kano following bandits attacks

Published on May 07, 2025 at 06:03 AM

Hon. Yusuf Badau, the lawmaker representing Bagwai and Shanono Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, has called for the immediate deployment of more security personnel to his constituency amid escalating attacks by armed bandits.

While presenting a motion during Tuesday’s plenary session, Badau highlighted a series of violent incidents that have left residents in fear and insecurity.

He recounted that on April 17, bandits attacked a market in Farin Ruwa, Shanono LGA, killing two people, injuring six others, and abducting one person. A similar attack occurred in Shanono on April 26 but was repelled by the community.

On May 2, gunmen struck again in Fafarawa and Sandamu communities, abducting another individual and stealing mobile phones and seven motorcycles. Fortunately, no casualties were reported during this latest incident.

The House has referred the matter to its Committees on National Security and Intelligence, and Police Affairs, for further legislative action.
