Lawan urges national unity, calls on Nigerians to embrace Easter values

Former Senate President, Senator Ahmad Lawan, has called on Nigerians to set aside their differences and work towards strengthening national unity, especially during the Easter season.

In a statement released on Sunday, Lawan emphasized that Easter symbolizes sacrifice, renewal, and hope—values that align closely with the Nigerian spirit of resilience and perseverance.

“As our Christian brothers and sisters celebrate Easter, a time of renewal and hope, let us reflect on the values that bind us together as a nation,”; he said. “The spirit of sacrifice and faith that Easter embodies are deeply ingrained in the Nigerian spirit.”;

He noted that, like the resurrection story central to Easter, Nigeria has weathered significant challenges but continues to endure through the collective will of its people.

Lawan urged citizens to embrace diversity as a source of strength and foster harmony across ethnic and religious lines. “Let us work together, hand in hand, to overcome the divisions that threaten our national unity and focus on the common goals that unite us,”; he said.

He also appealed to Nigerians to uphold justice, fairness, and equality while supporting leaders with prayers for wisdom and integrity.

“May God bless our nation,”; Lawan concluded, extending prayers for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and other national leaders as they steer the country toward peace and development.
