A WIN over Latvia on Tuesday will seal England’s place at the 2026 World Cup finals.

Latvia vs England preview

England travel to Latvia knowing that a win will secure their place at the 2026 World Cup finals in the United States, Canada and Mexico.

Thomas Tuchel’s side have cruised through qualifying so far, winning all five of their Group K fixtures without conceding a single goal.

The Three Lions also received a helping hand from Albania, who beat Serbia 1-0 over the weekend, which has paved the way for England to book their ticket to next summer’s tournament with two games to spare.

England warmed up for this encounter with a comfortable 3-0 victory over Wales at Wembley, with goals from Morgan Rogers, Ollie Watkins and Bukayo Saka.

Tuchel’s squad choices seemed to have been vindicated by the performance, although his decision to take aim at supporters could be considered questionable at best.

“The stadium was silent. Silent. We never got any energy back from the stands,” he said afterwards.

Nevertheless, England should give their travelling support something to cheer about in Riga, having won their last five games on foreign soil, scoring 14 goals – four of those accompanied by a clean sheet.

On paper, Latvia should pose little threat.

Ranked 137th in the world by FIFA – one spot below the Faroe Islands – they have struggled throughout the campaign, managing just one victory over Andorra.

At the double

Harry Kane should return to spearhead England’s attack against Latvia on Tuesday, and we’re backing him to score 2+ goals at 9/4 with William Hill.

The 32-year-old has been simply electric this season. He’s already smashed in 18 goals in 10 matches across all competitions – including two hat-tricks and five braces.

He was on the scoresheet when these sides met in the reverse fixture at Wembley and has netted five goals in the six games since Tuchel took charge.

Involved

Marc Guehi continues to impress with his attacking contributions for the Three Lions.

He’s now registered three assists and a goal in his last two games under Thomas Tuchel, and is available at 3/1 to have another goal involvement against Latvia on Tuesday.

It’s no fluke either. The Crystal Palace star has had the most big chances for defenders in the Premier League this season (3) and ranks 15th for expected goal involvements.
