Real Madrid president, Florentino Perez, has given reasons he opted to bring Jose Mourinho back for a second stint at the club.

Mourinho is yet to be officially unveiled by the LaLiga giants despite agreeing a three-year contract.

The former Chelsea and Manchester United boss is waiting for Perez to win Sunday’s presidential elections.

Perez himself has now credited Mourinho with instilling a competitive spirit in the team before leaving in 2013.

He said: “I’m very excited, Mourinho is the man who made us competitive again, he built that spirit that let us won six Champions Leagues after him.

“Now we want him to bring that same competitive spirit back.”
