Real Madrid have appointed Alvaro Arbeloa to replace Xabi Alonso as manager.
Alonso was sacked by the Spanish giants on Monday after only seven months.
The decision came a day after Los Blancos lost 3-2 to Barcelona in the SuperCopa final.
Before taking the role, Arbeloa had been working as the coach of Madrid’s reserve team, Castilla.
The 42-year-old began his career as a player at Madrid before a spell at Liverpool, where he played alongside Alonso.
Arbeloa returned to Madrid in 2009 and spent seven seasons at the club before returning to coach with the academy in 2020.
