The Lagos State Domestic and Sexual Violence Agency (DSVA) has encouraged victims and survivors to come forward with credible information to assist in the ongoing investigation of an e-hailing driver accused of multiple instances of rape and assault within the state.
In a statement posted on its official X account on Sunday, the agency confirmed that it is collaborating closely with the Lagos State Police Command to gather evidence and ensure justice is served following the arrest of the suspect, identified as Adedayo Adegbola.
Praising the police for their “swift and diligent efforts” in capturing the suspect, the DSVA reiterated its dedication to supporting the ongoing investigation and ensuring that all survivors receive justice and protection.
“The agency is working alongside the police to ensure justice is achieved and to enhance the collection of substantial evidence in the ongoing investigation. We urge other victims or survivors who may have been assaulted by the suspect to come forward. All reports will be handled with strict confidentiality, and survivors will be provided with the necessary psychosocial and legal support,” the statement noted.
According to police sources, Adegbola was apprehended by detectives from the State Criminal Investigation Department, Panti, after a series of viral online posts where several women identified his photograph and accused him of sexual violence.
The spokesperson for the Lagos State Police Command, Abimbola Adebisi, confirmed on Saturday that the arrest followed a discreet investigation initiated by the Commissioner of Police, Olohudare Jimoh.
Adebisi mentioned that preliminary findings link the suspect to multiple cases of rape, physical and indecent assault, and armed robbery involving female passengers.
Investigators also recovered a red Toyota Corolla, with registration number JJJ 226 HT, which is allegedly used by the suspect in the commission of the crimes.
Police authorities stated that Adegbola remains in custody while efforts continue to identify potential accomplices and gather additional evidence.
