While the sheer dress trend has been around for decades – remember that iconic look rocked at the 1974 Met Gala – it shows no signs of slowing down. In fact, it appears that 2026 has already become the year of the nude dress.
Just earlier this week, the youngest of the Kardashian-Jenner clan, Kylie, to help promote a powder which claims to be sweat and humidity-proof.
The 28-year-old billionaire put an ethereal spin on the trend, with the ruffled layers of tulle adding a playful and whimsical touch. The garment was layered over a silky nude bra and matching underwear.
At its core, the sheer dress trend is defined by its barely-there materials, such as see-through mesh, metallic knits and sexy lace. And some celebs, including , 29, are choosing to show off their confidence by going braless underneath too.
Fashion expert Amber Graafland told The Sun: “Visible, unapologetic and very much on show, the nipple has become fashion’s most talked-about accessory this summer.
“From to and Madonna (67, and still making waves), the message is clear: modesty is taking a little holiday.”
She continued: “Either way, it’s less about exposure and more about attitude. The nipple isn’t trending because it’s shocking. It’s trending because, in an age of carefully curated everything, there’s something wonderfully carefree about simply letting fashion, and a little bit of anatomy, do the talking.”
