The Kwara State Road Traffic Management Authority, KWARTMA, has deployed 450 personnel across the state for special traffic operations ahead of the Eid-Kabir celebration and the annual Ilorin Durbar festival.

The development was disclosed in a statement issued in Ilorin by the Chief Executive Officer of KWARTMA, Abdullahi Suleiman Oba.

According to the statement, the operation will run from May 22 to May 30, 2026, to manage the expected increase in vehicular and pedestrian movement during the festive period.

The agency stated that 350 personnel have been stationed at major traffic points and congestion-prone areas across the state, while additional officers have been assigned to patrol, rescue, monitoring and surveillance duties.

The statement further noted that the operation would cover major livestock markets and strategic locations including Kara Market, Oke-Oyi, Mandate Market, Zango, Kara Ajase, Offa, Oko-Olowo and Bode Saadu.

“We have strategically deployed our personnel to critical locations across the state to ensure seamless movement, effective traffic control and public safety throughout the celebrations,” Oba stated.

KWARTMA also advised motorists and commercial drivers to avoid excessive speeding, overloading and night journeys during the Eid-Kabir celebrations.
