Governor Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq of Kwara State visited Oke Ode in the Ifelodun Local Government Area on Thursday to express his condolences to the community and the families who lost their loved ones in the recent attacks by armed kidnappers.
According to DAILY POST, the attack on the Ogba-Ayo community in Oke-Ode town last Sunday resulted in the deaths of 12 individuals, including the Baale of Ogba-Ayo, with an unknown number of people abducted.
Accompanied by security chiefs and senior government officials, the governor prayed for the souls of the deceased, praised the security forces for their efforts, and assured the community that peace would soon be restored.
A statement from his spokesman, Rafiu Ajakaye, released in Ilorin on Thursday, revealed that the governor also extended his condolences and solidarity to all communities affected by the violence, including those in Ifelodun, Irepodun, Isin, Ekiti, Edu, and Patigi Local Government Areas.
“We have come to express our condolences to the community regarding the attacks. We also want to commend the security forces, forest guards, and vigilantes for their efforts in repelling the attackers and restoring peace to the area,” he stated.
“It has been quite challenging. We are taking all necessary measures to mitigate its impact and ensure that such incidents do not happen again.”
Among those accompanying the governor were the Commissioner of Police, Adekimi Ojo; the State Director of DSS; the State Commandant of NSCDC, Dr. Umar Mohammed; Senior Special Assistant on Security, Muyideen Aliyu; and the Chairman of Ifelodun LGA, Femi Yusuf.
The governor received updates from security personnel and stakeholders from Oke Ode and the neighboring Igbaja, including the National President of the Oke Ode Development Association, Alhaji Abdulganiyu Ajala; Elder Oyin Zubair; and the youth leader.
Earlier, the governor had issued a statement expressing his condolences to the affected communities, emphasizing that more must be done to protect the people and their property.
