NORTH Korean dictator Kim Jong Un was spotted grinning as he watched missile tests from his new warship just months after it nearly sank at its launch.

One of the destroyers – named Kang Kon – had a bungled launch last year
The 5,000-tonne naval destroyer after the pompous launch ceremony watched by Kim went disastrously wrong.
Satellite pictures later revealed the huge warship floundering on its side beside the launch dock, with the stern partially sunk and its bow lying on the harbour jetty.
But following repairs, Kang Kon was relaunched in June while being hauled upright
On Sunday, for more than two hours, cruise missiles flew from Kang Kon and the first North Korean destroyer known as Choe Hyon.
Anti-ship missiles were also active for more than 30 minutes along a pre-set trajectory over the nation’s western seas before striking their targets, according to North Korea’s official newspaper Rodong Sinmun.

He reaffirmed his vow to boost the nuclear armament of his navy announcing that his government was focused on its nuclear forces’ “limitless expansion” and rapid-response capabilities.
Rodong Sinmun reported that he reviewed plans for weapons systems on a third and fourth destroyer, which are currently being built.
The tyrant previously supervised two rounds of missile testing from Choe Hyon last month.
Kim boasted the development of the Choe Hyon had been a major step toward expanding the operational reach and preemptive strike capabilities of his military.
The warship was designed to carry a range of systems, including anti-air and anti-ship weapons, and nuclear-capable ballistic and cruise missiles, local media reported.
South Korean officials and experts say the construction and advances of the vessel were likely due to Russian assistance, as the two nations deepen their military ties.
But others have questioned whether it is even ready for active service.
State media said a third destroyer is being built at the Nampo shipyard on the country’s western coast and will be unveiled in time for the ruling Workers’ Party’s founding anniversary in October.
The latest launch tests have added to the run of weapons testing in North Korea as the country continues to expand its nuclear forces.
Kim’s military has targeted rival neighbour South Korea as a prolonged halt in diplomacy continues to damage their ties.
A series of tests conducted last week reportedly involved various new weapons systems, including ballistic missiles armed with cluster-bomb warheads.
