KIERAN SHOEMARK has been jocked off the huge Field Of Gold ride in the Irish 2000 Guineas by a rivals punters are labelling the ‘best in the business’ at the Curragh.
It always looked like Shoey would lose the ride on John and Thady Gosden’s awesome grey colt after the 2000 Guineas at Newmarket.
Shoemark failed to get the 15-8 favourite home after appearing to wait a moment too long and allowing William Buick first run on Ruling Court.
The jockey, who then saw his French 1000 Guineas ‘win’ on Shes Perfect overturned by stewards, was subsequently dropped as the Gosdens’ No1 rider.
And Ryan Moore was picked over him for the ride on Roger Teal’s Dancing Gemini in last weekend’s Locking at Newbury.
Now Juddmonte have confirmed Shoemark will not get the chance at redemption this weekend.
Colin Keane is the man they have turned to for 8-11 Field Of Gold, while Oisin Murphy will ride the same owner’s hugely exciting Cosmic Year.
He was scratched from the 2000 Guineas at Newmarket but won over the track in the 7f Listed King Charles II stakes instead.
The Harry Charlton-trained colt is a general 4-1 for the Group 1.
A rider for Juddmonte’s third in the race, the Andrew Balding-trained Windlord, has yet to be confirmed.
Keane, who won the 2020 Irish 2000 Guineas for Juddmonte with the Ger Lyons-trained Siskin, said: “I’m delighted to be asked to ride him, he looks a very good ride going into the race, I’m very much looking forward to it.
“The Juddmonte colours are those that growing up watching racing, you know who they are.
“I’ve been very fortunate to win two Classics wearing them and a couple more Group Ones and I’m just delighted to be asked to ride the colt at the weekend.
“Winning the Irish Guineas a few years ago for Ger was one of my best days.
“It’s such a huge race and Juddmonte hadn’t long been in the yard, he was their first Group One together.
“To get a horse of Siskin’s calibre very early on was very special and for him to then go and win a Classic was very special, it was a brilliant day.”;;
