The suspect is currently in custody; however, the school remains on lockdown until further notice, as reported by the police .
“We are aware of a reported shooting at Kentucky State University in Frankfort,” stated Governor Andy Beshear.
“At this moment, we know there are several injuries. We will provide more information as it becomes available.”
“Law enforcement is on the scene, and a suspect has been apprehended. Let us pray for all those affected.”
The suspect was arrested in collaboration with KSU Campus Police and the Franklin County Sheriff’s Office.
Authorities have not yet released additional information regarding the suspect's identity or the number of injured individuals.
Witnesses shared on social media that they observed multiple ambulances in the vicinity.
“I was there and just left. It was quite alarming,” one user commented under the police statement.
