The Kebbi State Government has urged Nigerians to increase their prayers for the safe return of the schoolgirls who were abducted from the Government Girls Comprehensive Secondary School in Maga.

In a statement issued on Friday by Aliu Sarki, the Special Adviser on Media and Publicity to the Kebbi Governor, the Commissioner for Religious Affairs, Arch. Sani Aliyu, emphasized the need for deep reflection and fervent supplication from all sectors of society.

He called on religious leaders from all faiths to seek divine intervention, stating, “Only Allah SWT can rescue the state from these challenges and restore peace and comfort.”

Aliyu encouraged Islamic scholars to consistently offer Qunūt during and after the five daily prayers, particularly during the late-night hours.

He also urged Christian clergymen to “seize every opportunity during their sermons to pray for the state and the nation.”

He expressed condolences to the families of the abducted students, the Zuru Emirate, and the school community, assuring them of the government's unwavering support.

Residents were reminded not to assist criminals but to protect their communities and provide information to security agencies.

The statement highlighted that Governor Nasir Idris had previously underscored the significance of “intensive and sustained prayers” during visits from Vice President Kashim Shettima, the Progressive Governors’ Forum, labor leaders, and the Minister of State for Defence.

The governor also participated in Friday prayers in Argungu, where special supplications were made for the girls’ safe return.
