Kebbi govt confirms bandit attack on police post in Sakaba

Published on June 29, 2025 at 06:19 AM

Kebbi State Government has confirmed an attack by armed bandits on a mobile police post in Makuku village, Sakaba Local Government Area.

Director of Security at the Cabinet Office, Abdulrahman Zagga, disclosed this onSaturdayduring a press briefing in Bagudo. He said the post, manned by visiting mobile officers, was overrun by heavily armed bandits who seized an undisclosed number of rifles and set a Toyota Hilux patrol vehicle ablaze.

Zagga clarified that the facility was a temporary mobile post, not a formal police station, and no casualties were recorded.

DAILY POST gathered that the assailants were moving with a large herd of stolen cattle suspected to have been taken from Niger State and were heading toward Zamfara.

Following the incident, the state government requested air support from the Nigerian Air Force, which helped disperse the attackers.

Zagga added that Kebbi has no peace agreement with any bandit group and identified informants as a major obstacle to ongoing security efforts.

He noted that attacks often increase during the rainy season as bandits extort farming communities.
