Kebbi govt approves over N1bn for education projects, student fees

Kebbi State Governor Nasir Idris has approved the release of more than N1.1 billion for key interventions in the education sector.

The Commissioner for Higher Education, Isah Abubakar Tunga, disclosed this on Thursday while briefing journalists in Birnin Kebbi.

He said N230.2 million would be used for the renovation of Abdulsalami Nagimbana (Bush House) and Emir Haruna Rasheed students’ hostels at the State College of Health Sciences and Technology, Jega.

According to him, another N251.5 million was approved for the procurement of essential equipment to enable the take-off of the newly established College of Midwifery, Ambursa, Birnin Kebbi.

Tunga added that about N700 million had also been earmarked for the payment of outstanding registration fees for Kebbi students studying in various institutions across the country.
