Kebbi State governor, Nasir Idris, has suspended the Commissioner for Health, Yunusa Musa Ismail, with immediate effect.

The suspension, announced on Thursday by the governor’s spokesperson, Yahaya Sarki, follows allegations of negligence of duty and disregard for his mandate as commissioner.

According to the statement, Idris directed the commissioner to provide cogent reasons why disciplinary measures should not be taken against him.

“By this directive, the Honourable Commissioner is suspended from office until further notice,” the statement read.

Governor Idris reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to accountability, discipline and effective service delivery, stressing that public officers must justify the confidence reposed in them.
