On Monday on her neck.
And now, she has revealed that the bandage was a result of a biopsy upon finding a lump.
“Last summer, I found this lump in my neck,” revealed Kaye while speaking on her How To Be 60 podcast.
“We had been interviewing Mark Steel, who had been telling us about his throat cancer. Once you do an interview like that, you start prodding around and I found what I thought was a lump.”
Upon talking to a friend, who advised her to get the lump checked, Kaye said that’s when she began to panic.
“They wanted to do a scan and a biopsy, which they did. You spend however long thinking, ‘This is it’, so anyway they just said to keep an eye on it.”
continued that she underwent a biopsy earlier this week, which is when doctors remove a small sample of tissue to examine it – hence the bandage.
She has now had a diagnosis and is awaiting confirmation of whether or not she will need to undergo surgery.
“It’s a nodule on my thyroid, so it might have to come out, it might not have to come out, we’ll see,” said Kaye.
A thyroid nodule is a solid or fluid-filled lump on the thyroid gland, with the majority of them benign.
Kaye assured that it hasn’t grown since she discovered it, but doctors are more concerned on keeping an eye on it’s shape.
Her health scare comes after Kaye was axed from her job on BBC Radio Scotland.
The star had been working with the broadcaster for over 15 years.
She was reportedly found guilty of three misconduct claims, including swearing at a colleague, throwing a pen and berating an intern.
Kaye will be replaced in her £155,000-a-year BBC Scotland radio job by Grant Stott, 58 , with stand-in host Connie McLaughlin continuing in the role for the immediate future.
