Kano sports tragedy: Ogun govt makes donation to late athletes’ families

The Governor of Ogun State, Prince Dapo Abiodun has sent a delegation to Kano to convey his sympathy over the death of 22 Kano athletes.

The sports personalities died in a fatal auto crash while on their way from the National Sports Festival in Ogun.

The delegation led by the Deputy Governor of Ogun state, Engr. Noimot Salako-Oyedele donated N1m to each family of the athletes and officials who passed away.

The team prayed for the repose of the souls of those who passed on, and quick recovery of those on hospital beds.

Aside from the Deputy Governor, other team members include Secretary to the State Government Tokunbo Talabi, Commissioner for Sports Wasiu Isiaka, and Executive Secretary of the LOC, Dr Kweku Tandoh.

They were received by the Deputy Governor, Comrade Aminu AbdulSalam Gwarzo, who expressed appreciation for the condolences.

He also revealed that the Ogun state governor, Abiodun had called earlier to register his sympathy.
