The Kano State Police Command has confirmed a connection between the gruesome murder of a woman and her six children in Dorayi Chiranchi and the earlier killing of two women in Tudun Yola.

The Tudun Yola incident occurred in November 2025, when unidentified persons reportedly stormed a house in the area, killed two co-wives, and set the building on fire. At the time, the attack generated widespread fear, with no clear suspects identified and no conclusive details on those responsible.

However, new findings have emerged following the arrest of suspects linked to the Dorayi killings.

In a statement issued on Sunday by the Police Public Relations Officer, CSP Abdullahi Haruna Kiyawa, the command disclosed that the suspects have confessed to their involvement in the earlier Tudun Yola murders.

β€œThe suspects arrested in connection with the murder of a woman and her six children in Dorayi Chiranchi have confessed to carrying out the killing of two women in Tudun Yola in November 2025,” Kiyawa said.

The suspects were identified as Umar Auwalu, 23, of Sabuwar Gandu; Isyaku Yakubu, 40, of Sagagi; and Yakubu Abdulaziz, 21, of Sabon Gida, Sharada.

Speaking to newsmen, the Commissioner of Police, CP Ibrahim Adam Bakori, said preliminary investigations had established a clear link between the two cases. He revealed that one of the women killed and secretly buried in Tudun Yola was an aunt to the prime suspect in the Dorayi killings.

β€œOur initial investigation has confirmed a relationship between the Tudun Yola killings and the Dorayi case. One of the victims in Tudun Yola is the aunt of the prime suspect, Umar Auwalu,” CP Bakori stated.

The police said investigations are ongoing to fully unravel the circumstances surrounding both incidents and to determine whether other individuals were involved, assuring the public that all those found culpable would be brought to justice.
