The Kano State Judicial Service Commission (JSC) has rejected claims that a High Court has dismissed corruption charges against former Commissioner for Local Government Affairs, Murtala Sule Garo.
The clarification was given on Tuesday in Kano by the judiciary’s spokesperson, Baba Jibo Ibrahim.
Earlier, reports had circulated that a Kano State High Court had struck out the case against Garo.
The reports stated that the decision was delivered by Justice Sanusi Ado Ma’aji of High Court No. 15 on Miller Road, bringing an end to the case identified as Suit No. K/133C/2024.
The case was filed by the Kano State Public Complaints and Anti-Corruption Commission.
It involves Garo and other defendants, including Mohammed Sule Garo, Mustapha Sule Garo, Isah Musa Kera, MJ Multipurpose Services Ltd., and A.U. Future Investment Ltd.
However, in an audio message monitored by DAILY POST, Baba Jibo said the referenced judgement was delivered last year.
He said: “There was no court sitting between yesterday and today that could have made the ruling. There was a court sitting last year in the said court; the case was dismissed. It is this same verdict that is being circulated at the moment.”
He urged the public to disregard claims that Garo had been cleared of the allegations, adding that all judges are currently on holiday.
