Former Kaduna Central Senator, Shehu Sani, responded on Friday to President Bola Tinubu’s dismissal of Service Chiefs, which included Christopher Musa, the former Chief of Defence Staff (CDS).
Sani expressed that the residents of Kaduna State take pride in Musa’s achievements during his tenure as CDS.
He emphasized that the people of the state value his leadership while in office.
In a post on X, he stated: “Regular changes in the leadership of our security services are crucial for achieving effective results.
“The previous hesitance to implement such changes is partially responsible for the challenges faced in the nation’s fight against insecurity.
“For us in Kaduna, we are grateful for the service and leadership of the outgoing CDS General Musa. We take pride in his achievements. We wish him success in his future endeavors.”
A statement from Tinubu’s spokesperson, Sunday Dare, indicated that the president initiated changes within the Service Chiefs to enhance Nigeria's national security framework.
As per the statement, Tinubu appointed General Olufemi Oluyede as the new Chief of Defence Staff, succeeding General Christopher Musa.
The new Chief of Army Staff is Major-General W. Shaibu, while Air Vice Marshall S.K Aneke has been appointed as Chief of Air Staff, and Rear Admiral I. Abbas is the new Chief of Naval Staff.
Major-General E.A.P Undiendeye will continue in his role as Chief of Defence Intelligence.
