The National Youth Service Corps, NYSC, has appealed to the Kaduna State governor, Uba Sani, to provide a permanent orientation camp and improve the welfare of corps members serving in the state.
The NYSC state coordinator, Mrs Efeke Murna Dadaza, made the call on Tuesday during the closing ceremony of the 2025 Batch B Stream I orientation course at the NYSC temporary camp, Government College, Kaduna.
DAILY POST recalls that since bandit activities escalated in the state, the NYSC relocated to Government College, Kaduna, for camping, leaving the popular Black Gold Orientation Camp, located at kilometre 18, Kaduna-Abuja highway, for security operatives who are guarding against insecurity across the state.
Following this, Dadaza appealed to Governor Uba Sani to provide a conducive atmosphere for the conduct of the NYSC programme.
Dadaza listed the scheme’s requests to include a befitting permanent orientation camp and better welfare support for corps members during their service year.
Other requests are the inauguration of the NYSC Kaduna State Governing Board and the provision of utility vehicles to aid camp operations.
She commended the corps members for their discipline and commitment during the three-week programme, urging them to be good ambassadors of the scheme in their places of primary assignment.
Speaking further, the NYSC state coordinator also encouraged corps members to build on the skills acquired under the Skills Acquisition and Entrepreneurship Development, SAED programme to become self-reliant and contribute to job creation, just as she expressed appreciation to the Kaduna State government, security agencies, and other stakeholders for supporting the successful conduct of the orientation exercise.
Governor Uba Sani, who was represented by the Commissioner for the Ministry of Youth Development, Barrister Gloria Ibrahim, reiterated his administration’s commitment to the security of NYSC members and staff across the state, urging the corps members to be good ambassadors of their families and the scheme by embarking on community development projects that will outlive them.
He also appealed to employers not to reject corps members posted to them but rather assist them so that they can settle down quickly for national service.
