The Kulen Allah Cattle Rearers Association of Nigeria (KACRAN) has denounced the recent and tragic abduction of secondary school students in Kebbi and Niger States. The Association, represented by its National President, Khalil Mohammed Bello, made this announcement in a statement released to the media on Saturday in Damaturu, Yobe State.
In the statement, it was noted that this issue has escalated into a significant national concern, highlighted by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu's choice to cancel his planned trip to South Africa for the G20 Economic Summit in order to prioritize the crisis at home.
“The most regrettable aspect of this deeply troubling incident is that it specifically targets innocent secondary school students. These children have left their parents for the first time to attend boarding school, seeking an education that is crucial for the future progress of their states, Nigeria, and the world,” it stated.
KACRAN pointed out that the Federal Government's subsequent order to close over 40 federal secondary schools nationwide, along with the closures mandated by the governments of Niger and Katsina states, signifies a serious setback for education.
“This is particularly concerning for the Northern region, which is already facing a high number of out-of-school children. KACRAN is deeply worried that the perpetrators of this heinous act are now directing their unlawful attacks toward vulnerable children who deserve the utmost protection,” it added.
KACRAN further urged all Nigerians to denounce all forms of violence.
