CRYSTAL PALACE are in danger of another stunning mid-season blow – after Juventus have entered fresh talks to sign Jean-Philippe Mateta.

The Eagles are already on the verge of seeing captain Marc Guehi complete his exit.

And the South Londoners are at risk of Mateta, 28, following his team-mate out of Selhurst Park.

Italian journalist Gianluca Di Marzio reports that Juventus have held fresh conversations with the striker’s agents over a move.

The Serie A giants have already been warned that it would take a £35m bid to convince Palace to green light the switch.

But the Bianconeri are mulling over whether to push ahead with a swoop this month or revisit the situation in the summer because of the finances involved.

Juventus know they will have to splash the cash in order to meet Palace’s demands and Mateta’s wage expectations.

The Frenchman has notched 10 goals in 32 appearances this season – and helped the Eagles to and Community Shield glory last year.

Mateta and Guehi’s departures would lead to Palace’s squad being decimated midway through the campaign.

And, in another almighty blow for the South Londoners, boss Selhurst Park when his contract expires in the summer.

The Austrian said: “I had a meeting in October with Steve Parish. We had dinner and a long talk. I told him I will not sign a new contract for Crystal Palace.

“We agreed it was best to keep it between us, confidentially, and we did for three months. I told the team today. It’s now important to have clarity.

“I don’t want to have this question. We had a very busy schedule. We want the same, me and Steve.

“Steve has no ego. Oliver Glasner has no ego, we want what is best for Palace.

“It’s important to have clarity, this is what the players deserve, this is what fans deserve, that’s why I tell it today.”
