Kano State Governor, Abba Yusuf, has condemned the killing of a woman and her six children in Dorayi Chiranchi Quarters, Kano metropolis, describing the incident as barbaric and unacceptable.
In a statement issued on Saturday by his spokesperson, Sunusi Tofa, the governor expressed deep sorrow over the tragedy and directed security agencies to immediately track down and arrest those responsible.
Yusuf described the killing of a mother and her innocent children as barbaric, senseless and a grave assault.
The governor extended his condolences to the bereaved family, the residents of Dorayi Chiranchi, and the people of Kano State. He also prayed for the repose of the souls of the deceased and for strength and comfort for their loved ones.
DAILY POST reported that the incident occurred on Saturday in Dorayi Chiranchi, Kumbotso Local Government Area, when unknown assailants reportedly invaded the victims’ residence. The woman, identified as Fatima Abubakar, and her six children were killed during the attack.
Reacting further, Governor Yusuf vowed that his administration would ensure the criminals do not go unpunished, stressing that justice must be served.
“We will ensure that the perpetrators are hunted down, arrested and prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law,” he said.
He ordered the Kano State Police Command to commence an immediate manhunt for the suspects.
The governor also appealed to residents to remain calm and cooperate with security agencies by promptly reporting suspicious activities, assuring them of his administration’s commitment to safeguarding lives and property across the state.
