But the woman who has the “biggest influence” on him has maintained a much lower profile – here’s everything we know about the ’s wife and kids.

Who is Jose Mourinho’s wife Matilde Faria?

Matilde Faria has followed the Special One through , , , , , , back to Chelsea, , , , , a return to , and now a .

Born in , Matilde grew up in Setubal, the Portuguese port city south of where was born and where a street now carries his name.

Known to family as Tami, she knew him as a teenager and married him in 1989, before he’d managed a professional side.

In May 2014, the same day her husband was named a World Food Programme (WFP) ambassador against hunger, Matilde was appointed a WFP Special Ambassador for school feeding, promoting the agency’s work providing free school meals to around 24million children a year.

Mourinho has been blunt about the pecking order at home.

In 2015, he told The Big Issue: “My wife and my son and my daughter have the biggest influence on me, that’s for sure. And why? Because they are the bosses and control everything in the house!”

He added: “When it comes to make big decisions – where to go, where to work, when to change – on this kind of thing they have a big influence on me.”

Did Matilde Faria stop Mourinho becoming England manager?

England sacked after failing to qualify for Euro 2008, and Mourinho, freshly out of Chelsea, was in talks to replace him.

In 2014, he explained: “I was almost, almost, almost, almost manager at that time. My wife was right. She told me not to take it.”

How many children do Jose Mourinho and Matilde Faria have?

Mourinho and Matilde have two children – daughter Matilde, known in the family as Tita, was born in 1996, and son Jose Mario Jr, known as Zuca, followed in 2000.

In 2013, he had his wife’s and their two children’s names tattooed on his left wrist.

Both kids had a nomadic childhood tracking their father around Europe – Matilde said she attended 11 schools before university.

Jose Jr went into football, coming through the youth systems at Real Madrid and Chelsea as a promising goalkeeper before signing a two-year scholarship at in 2016.

Since leaving the Cottagers the following year, Jose Jr has been away from the game.

But reports suggest he aims to follow in his father’s footsteps and pursue a career in coaching.

His daughter did a master’s degree at the Conde Nast College of Fashion and Design in London and runs her own jewellery label.

She married property consultant Danny Graham on October 12, 2024, at the family estate in Azeitao near Setubal.

The couple met as teens in , but it was almost a decade later that he popped the question during a holiday in .

Matilde told Vogue : “He got down on one knee on the beach just by my family’s place. It couldn’t have been more perfect.

“He had my brother in on it, which made it the biggest surprise, considering how hard I usually am to surprise.

“After it happened, we spent the evening at home with my family, had pizza and wine to celebrate, and called our friends and family to share the news.”
