in the series – alongside Alan and – and appeared to revel in his time as the panto villain, though inside the constant deception took its toll.

He now claims some of the faithfuls are yet to forgive their traitor counterparts, even though the game has long since ended.

In the latest episode of his Reel Talk podcast, he says: “I’ve gone on record saying I struggled doing it. It was hard doing it. And those who’ve now seen the final, the emotions you see at the end from someone – I’m not going to name names – you can see how hard we all found it…I think everyone found it.”

“It is a bit weird because there are a couple of people from in there – I’m not gonna name names – who do seem to still, not hold a grudge exactly, but still seem to struggle with accepting that it was just a game, and that the lying and accusations that flew around were all part of the game.

“They are nothing to do with who we are or what we are or how we interact outside of that hothouse environment. But it is kinda weird.”

Jonathan admitted he wasn’t quite sure why they were reacting in this way, though suggested the intensity of the game could open up past traumas in a social context.

“I hate the word ‘triggering’ because it’s such a common word to use now and I think it’s used too casually,” he said.

“But I think when you’re in a stressful situation you rarely react just because of that situation; there’s almost always other factors that you might not even be aware of – old wounds and fears you might have about how you’re perceived or how you think people see you or how you think you are acting or whether you’re acting quickly.”

Jonathan approached it logically and kept reminding himself that it was a game and his performance an act, but he has no control over how other people interpret it.

He remained in character in between scenes for the show in case he let slip any clues that might give away his position.

Though they weren’t meant to discuss the game in their downtime, Jonathan revealed the cast’s conversations often drifted back to it.

The show’s stars – including Charlotte Church and Celia Imrie – got together for a tense viewing party last Wednesday and looked to be loving the reunion as they watched through their fingers.

The following night, show champ Alan celebrated in boozy fashion with his pals.

Only one Celeb Traitors star made it onto the guest list: .

A source said: “, and it was well deserved.

“It was a small party but there was lots of champagne, drinks and nibbles and the special cake, which Alan thought was brilliant.

“Alan had kept the whole result totally hush-hush so everyone was gobsmacked at the final scene.

“It made for another amazing moment and he burst into tears again. Everyone stayed celebrating until the early hours. It was an intimate, but raucous, bash.”
