Women’s groups in Jigawa State on Thursday staged another peaceful protest, urging members of the public to stop politicising the case and allow the Department of State Services (DSS) and the courts to handle the matter in accordance with the law.

The women, who came from all 27 local government areas, staged the protest at Government House, Dutse, the state capital.

The protesters carried placards with inscriptions such as “Walida is not a tool for politics, support Court and state Government if you really care,” “Stop politicising Walida’s case, leave DSS to handle it,” and “Walida is safe, DSS is transparent, court is handling the matter right,” among others.

Leading the protest, the chairperson of the Jigawa Women Development Initiative, Aisha Shamsuddeen, said the demonstration became necessary due to the alleged politicisation of the case by some individuals.

She stated that authorities are currently handling the case correctly, and any interference by individuals could disrupt the process and hinder justice.

“Walida is safe, DSS is transparent, and the court is handling the matter right; therefore, allow them to handle it,” Aisha said.

They commended Governor Umar Namadi for taking charge of the case and ensuring Walida’s release to the care of the state government.

DAILY POST reported that Governor Umar Namadi has assured that the Jigawa State Government will pursue the case involving Walida Abdulhadi to its logical and legal conclusion.
