Jigawa State Government has pledged full support for the Federal Government’s Sector Wide Approach (SWAp) initiative,
State Commissioner for Health Dr. Abdullahi Kaimu disclosed this while speaking at the opening session of a four-day capacity-building training for health facilities managers and critical stakeholders in the state’s health sector held on Monday.
Represented by the Permanent Secretary, State Ministry of Health, Dr. Kabiru Ibrahim, he said the programme would enhance transparency, accountability, and policy alignment while enabling real-time monitoring of health expenditures through an integrated online platform.
He said the aim was to consolidate all health budgetary allocations across federal, state, and local levels into a single funding framework.
Also speaking at the event, the representative of the Federal Ministry of Health, Mr. Gebiral Peter, emphasized that the SWAp initiative would integrate and streamline all public healthcare projects and programmes to eliminate fragmentation in policy implementation.
He noted that the initiative will adopt a more robust approach to addressing healthcare challenges in Nigeria by strengthening coordination for better results.
State SWAp Coordinating Officer and and Special Adviser to the Governor, Dr. Atiku Hafizu, said the training would equip participants about the programme and their roles in achieving design objectives.
He reiterated state government ‘s commitment to improving health sector for the wellbeing of its citizens.
