Ann, 77, and James Schneider had joined the show as commentators, and one person ringing up had a question specifically for Ann.

The caller was named Gregg, and he explained to Jeremy that he’d previously worked as a junior doctor and now earns five times as much after starting work for a new company.

He then turned his attention to Ann, and said: “[Being a doctor] is not about the money for me. It’s about the love of the job – it was the hardest decision I had to make. But I have just one thing I need to pose to Ann Widdecombe?”

He went on: “I’m off to work soon but me and a few of the lads at the plant...”

Jeremy appeared apprehensive, and responded to the caller: “Hang on Greg. You’re not going to be rude to Ann. I can just feel the storm coming.”

But Ann reassured Jeremy, saying: “He can be rude to me.”

It was at that moment that the caller made his explicit comment, saying: “I was just wondering if she was going to get her t*ts out for the lads.”

Jeremy, disgusted, apologised for what viewers had to hear.

“You see, I saw it coming. The guy’s a clown,” he went on, to which Ann confirmed: “You did see it coming.”

Jeremy ended by wrapping up the segment and saying: “I did see it coming. It’s ridiculous. I could tell. And apologies for the language there. Let’s move on.”

Fans on X slammed the interaction, as one person wrote: “Pathetic man, doing that to Ann. These jokes are so old – he must have the IQ of a 10-year-old to think it’s still funny.”

And a second penned: “Absolutely pathetic. 12-year-old ringing up. Horrible misogyny as well.”
