Taking to Instagram, she said: “Last Friday I had severe tummy cramping all day and was sick pretty much all day.

“I felt hideous, it was getting worse so I dialled 111 & was told to go to A&E within the hour.

“I got seen after a few hours and had bloods done but they had no explanation – maybe viral or food poisoning. We went back home being told if it got worse to come back tomorrow.”

But Janey’s symptoms didn’t improve and she ended up back in hospital where she was diagnosed with a ruptured appendix which had resulted in a nasty infection.

She continued: “They did a CT scan straight away and found my appendix had blown and needed surgery asap.

“I was in hospital for a week as the infection had filled my stomach.”

The Sun told in 2025 how as ITV struggled to find older men willing to take part.

A TV insider said: “Strangely there were lots of stunning women in the 45 to 65 bracket who wanted to take part, but a sad dearth of men who fitted the bill.

“This was a problem they encountered in 2024 when they tried to make the second series and just about managed to get enough candidates together.

“But when it came to the third outing they realised it was just going to be too difficult, and decided taking a break might be the best option.”
