Jamie Carragher Slams Liverpool's £445m Transfer Window as 'Possibly the Worst in Premier League History'

JAMIE CARRAGHER has sensationally claimed Liverpool might have had the worst transfer window in Premier League history.

However, with Mamardashvili looking dodgy at best when he does play in ‘s absence and both Ekitike and Leoni missing at the start of this season due to injury, Carragher has not reflected on the window kindly.

Speaking on Sky Sports Monday Night Football, Carragher said: “My fear watching Liverpool, listen its the first game of the season, is this window (2025) could set Liverpool back a year or two.

“Don’t forget, last season it was not about these players. You (Gary Neville) said on the podcast yesterday these players had got off lightly, and you’re right.

“Because it was all about Arne Slot and his style of play, and he’s not like , and he’s holding his players back.

“Yes it’s one game under Iraola, but we’re talking 12 months of underperformance from all of these players except him (Ekitike).

“If this doesn’t change in the next two or three months under Iraola and these players improving, I think we’re at that as arguably the worst transfer window in Premier League history.”

After an audible gasp from host Dave Jones, Carragher, 48, added: “In terms of fees for these players and how much and what it was going to do for Liverpool.

“The idea wasn’t just these players coming in and being good players, it was to create a little dynasty for Liverpool.

“Let’s not forget, Liverpool won the league two years ago.

“These [players] were meant to done what [Manchester] City had done a few years ago or [Manchester] United in the past when they go and win two or three leagues in five years.”

The recruits of last season helped the Reds manage a fifth-place finish in the league.

But aside from Ekitike with 17 goals in 45 games across all competitions before his ACL injury, Wirtz, Isak, Frimpong and Kerkez combined for a total of 15 goals.

With the likes of departing over this summer, it was hoped the stars recruited last summer would take on the mantle of leading the Reds, yet that is yet to truly materialise.

Liverpool have added defender Jérémy Jacquet and winger Victor Munoz to their ranks this summer, as well as Ronald Aruajo on loan from .

The Anfield outfit have also been heavily linked with and star , but have thus far refused to pay the asking price upwards of £130m.

They host at home next and will be hoping for a much better performance in front of their own fans.
