JAMES MADDISON has suffered a torn ACL and is expected to miss most of the season.

The Tottenham talisman suffered the injury in a pre-season friendly against Newcastle in South Korea last week.

He could miss the entire season

The midfielder collapsed in pain and received treatment from physios, with fan fearing he had injured his anterior crucial ligament.

Those fans have now been realised and Maddison will undergo surgery on his right knee.

Recovery from the operation will keep the England star out for months and he is at risk of missing the entire season.

Spurs boss Thomas Frank confirmed after the match it was a “bad injury”.

Maddison, 28, subsequently underwent tests on his knee after returning from Asia.
