BORUSSIA DORTMUND are leading the race to re-sign England international Jadon Sancho, according to bookmakers Betfred.

The Bundesliga giants have been priced at 5/1 to bring Sancho back to Signal Iduna Park, with interest in the winger heating up following confirmation he will leave Chelsea when his loan deal expires on June 30.

The Athletic reports that Chelsea failed to reach an agreement on personal terms for a permanent transfer, despite an obligation-to-buy clause worth up to £25 million.

The Blues are now expected to pay a £5 million penalty instead of proceeding with a full transfer.

Sancho, 25, had a mixed spell in West London, scoring five goals and registering 10 assists as Chelsea finished fourth in the Premier League and lifted the UEFA Conference League title.

But while the club were reportedly impressed by his professionalism and attitude, concerns remain about his consistency.

He is now due to , where tensions with former manager Erik ten Hag saw him exiled from the first-team squad. With a year remaining on his contract at Old Trafford, Sancho’s future under new boss Ruben Amorim remains uncertain.

Should United opt to sell, Dortmund are seen as the most likely destination. The German club are joint 5/1 favourites with any Saudi Pro League side, according to Betfred, while Aston Villa are next in the betting at 7/1.

A move to the MLS is priced at 8/1, with Tottenham and Everton trailing at 10/1 and 12/1 respectively.

Betfred spokesperson Robert Ford said: “With it being reported that Jadon Sancho is returning to Manchester United this summer, we’ve made his former club Borussia Dortmund, as well as any club in the Saudi Pro League, the 5/1 favourites to sign him.

“Out of the nine Premier League clubs in the market, Aston Villa are the most likely destination in England for Sancho at 7/1, followed by Europa League winners Tottenham Hotspur at 10/1 and Everton at 12/1. A move to any club in the MLS is currently priced at 8/1.”;
