But the Toffees will now have to face the prospect of an extended spell without him, according to the Athletic .
The 30-year-old is set to be looked at by a specialist in the coming days to determine the severity of the injury.
He played the entirety of his side’s win over Aston Villa at the weekend,
He has been in fine form this season, but a lengthy spell away from the pitch could derail any chances the winger had of breaking into England’s World Cup squad in the summer.
The former Villa man has enjoyed a new lease of life since making the loan switch to Everton from Manchester City in the summer transfer window.
He has racked up two goals and six assists in 20 Premier League games this season.
That assist tally in particular is the third best in the league, behind only City maestro Rayan Cherki and Manchester United captain Bruno Fernandes.
Everton reportedly hold a buy-option in his loan agreement worth £50million.
But it is difficult to foresee how a lengthy injury spell could affect Everton’s decision making when it comes time to trigger it later this season.
