Gunfire can be heard in the video as demonstrators flee for their lives past moving vehicles in the bustling capital.
Protests have persisted for nearly a week, with Iran’s Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, asserting that rioters must be subdued.
The aging 86-year-old leader stated: “We engage with protesters; officials must communicate with them.
“However, engaging with rioters is futile. Rioters must be controlled.”
At least 10 individuals have already lost their lives in the violence.
Trump cautioned Iran that Washington is “locked and loaded” and prepared to “rescue” demonstrators if more lives are lost.
However, the prospect of US involvement has faced significant resistance from within Iran.
Senior Iranian official Ali Larijani warned that US interference would lead to widespread destabilization in the Middle East.
Iran and its allied forces in Lebanon, Iraq, and Yemen would certainly regard US bases in the region as “legitimate targets,” Larijani stated.
Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf, Secretary of Iran’s Supreme National Security Council, echoed these threats.
He remarked that a “disrespectful” Trump “should realize that any American ‘adventure’ would render all US facilities and forces in the region as targets.”
