IRAN has blown up Bahrain’s biggest petrol refinery, sending global markets haywire.

The primary refinery for the Petroleum Company in Ma’ameer erupted into flames after it was struck by an Iranian ballistic missile.

Bahrain’s Ministry of the Interior confirmed the attack on .

“One facility in Maameer was targeted, and the relevant authorities are handling the incident,” it said in a post.

The Ministry said flames have since been brought under control and that nobody was injured.

“The fire broke out in one of the facilities in Ma’ameer, which was targeted by the Iranian aggression, has been brought under control,” it said.

“Limited material damage was reported, with no loss of life.”

Ma’ameer is home to the Bahrain Petroleum Company refinery, as well as other factories that produce various materials such as concrete and asphalt.

The refinery – run by Bahrain’s state oil company Bapco – is located on Bahrain’s east coast, south of the capital Manama.
