The Minister of Interior, Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, has directed an instant probe into allegations of extortion involving officers of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, NSCDC.

This was contained in a statement by the Special Adviser to the minister on Media, Babatunde Alao, on Tuesday in Abuja.

In a viral post, the officers, allegedly extorted N5.2 million from a group of young men traveling from Ekiti to Ondo State.

According the minister, any officer found guilty will face the full weight of the law.

β€œWe will not tolerate any form of misconduct from our security agencies.

β€œWe are building a paramilitary that is disciplined, professional and serve Nigeria and Nigerians with all sense of diginity and patriotism.

β€œOn this case, we will see that justice is upheld and ensure that security personnel serve with forthrightness,”; he said.
