Christian Cleric, Prophet Sam Olu‑Alo, has urged the federal government to engage local hunters in securing Nigeria’s farms, places of worship, and forests that are being devastated by bandits and terrorists.

Olu‑Alo expressed this request during an interview with our correspondent on Friday.

The cleric emphasized that only authentic local hunters possess the necessary knowledge and traditional methods to confront the terrorists and bandits that are threatening Nigeria’s rural areas and faith-based organizations.

He called on the government, religious institutions, and traditional leaders to collaborate with local hunters, who, he noted, have vital intelligence and insights at the grassroots level to safeguard their communities.

“Insecurity often begins at the grassroots level. Our local hunters should be empowered to protect our forests and farms. They need adequate support and should not be overlooked, as they can assist the police and other security forces,” he stated.

Religious leaders should also play a role in combating banditry and terrorism. It is our duty as representatives of God on earth to ensure peace in our nation, regardless of our faith—whether we are Christians, Muslims, or traditional believers,” he added.

The cleric also proposed what he termed corporate prayer by all genuine men of God as a lasting solution to Nigeria’s challenges.

“I have consistently advocated for corporate prayer among all true men of God in Nigeria. Let us all unite and appeal to God regarding Nigeria, and witness if something remarkable does not occur within 24 hours.

“None of our church members should participate in this collective prayer session of all men of God, and we must not allow our gathering to be divided along denominational lines, but come together as one body of Christ’s church, disciples of Christ.

“All men of God who wish to participate in this should possess strong faith and a unified mindset. Together, we will undoubtedly move mountains and address Nigeria’s issues once and for all.”

Prophet Olu‑Alo’s appeal seeks to foster enduring collaboration among security agencies, religious organizations, traditional leaders, and local hunters to combat banditry and terrorism. He also underscores the significance of prayer in resolving Nigeria’s challenges.
