A WOMAN has caused controversy after sharing the look she wore to her friend’s wedding.

While the majority of people know not to wear white, silver or gold to anyone else’s nuptials, she ignored the unspoken rule and donned a two-piece beaded number for her pal’s

She took to TikTok to share a ‘GRWM’ video as she put on the Mimoza Kadriaj ensemble – from most recent bridal collection.

“This is my outfit tonight for my friend’s wedding,” she said.

The maxi skirt featured a corset inside, which she had to put on and tie up herself, before she added the cape-style top top.

And she even acknowledged that the was “so extra”, as she said that was the reason she wanted to keep her jewellery “as minimal as possible”.

“This is the most beautiful dress that I have ever worn,” she concluded.

“What do you guys think? I am so obsessed.”

Somewhat unsurprisingly, the comments section was immediately filled with people weighing in – with the majority slamming her for choosing the outfit for a wedding.

“You did not wear that, to a wedding??????” one wrote.

“This dress is literally from a bridal collection,” another sighed.

“Pretty wild to wear to a wedding.”

“Not for a wedding that is not yours, sorry,” a third agreed.

“I would tell you to leave my wedding,” someone else admitted.

“Not for a wedding… it’s HER moment not yours, too much,” another wrote.

“Ain’t no way!!! That is a wedding dress!!!! All you would hear at the door is…… DENIED!!” someone else said.

“Yeah that’s real appropriate for a wedding,” another wrote, adding a rolling eyes emoji.

“Look at ME!!!!”

Why you should never wear white to a wedding

JOSIE Griffiths, Deputy Editor at Fabulous, who is tying the knot this year, has shared her thoughts on wearing white to a wedding...

said: I tend to consider myself pretty low maintenance from a fashion and beauty point of view.

I can be out the door in 20 minutes in the morning, normally do my mascara on the bus or the Tube, and spend my work from home days in my gym gear.

But when it comes to my wedding this summer, that’s all gone out the window.

Professional hair and makeup is booked for 8am, I’ve gone all out on my wedding dress, got designer shoes and even bought a second dress for the evening do.

So when I think about someone wearing a white gown to my big day, yeah I think I’d be pretty mad.

The idea behind not wearing a white dress goes back to not wanting to ‘upstage the bride’.

Which, to be fair, is unlikely. Not only has she possibly spent a small fortune on her look for the day, she’s also one of the only two people present who knows (and hopefully likes) all the guests.

So the main risk you’re taking is just making yourself look quite silly – and getting gossiped about by total strangers.

A wedding guest I met in October 2022 still sticks out in my mind. I still don’t know what was worse – the fact she was so drunk she was crashing into people on the dance floor, or her decision to wear a white dress, which was arguably marginally improved by the glass of red wine she’d drunkenly tipped down herself.

I know weddings are expensive for everyone and it’s fair enough if you don’t want to buy a whole new outfit – I’m all for re-using what’s already in your wardrobe.

Just avoid the white dress for the bride’s sake – and your own.

“Oh NO!!!!! You can’t be wearing that to a wedding! It’s HER wedding,” someone else said.

While another commented: “I got married three months ago, and I would have hated it if they had dressed like that on my big day, because it’s the only day in your entire life when you are the main center of attention.

“That should be respected.”

However, there were also those who defended the woman, as one wrote: “This is how I would want everyone showing up to my wedding! Yaassss!!!

“Put in the effort and look amazing!”

“This is how guest should dress for a wedding!” another added.

“God people are so insecure,” a third commented.

“If my people don’t dress this amazing on my wedding day, they aren’t invited!”

“Sometimes I wish people would just scroll,” a third sighed.

“Because if they are saying anything besides how stunning you look, they need to LEAVE.”
