Liverpool legend Mark Lawrenson has urged Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta to take the captain’s armband from Martin Ãdegaard and hand it to Declan Rice.
According to Lawrenson, relieving Ãdegaard of the captaincy would allow him to concentrate more on his own performances for Arteta’s side.
Speaking to Paddy Power (via Mirror), Lawrenson rated Ãdegaard’s season a “six out of ten.”;
Lawrenson, commenting after Arsenal’s recent UEFA Champions League semi-final first-leg defeat to Paris Saint-Germain, said: “The captain’s armband should be taken away from Martin Odegaard, so he can get back to focusing on his performances.
“We all know that he’s a good player, but he’s just had a six out of 10 season.
“If you gave Declan Rice the armband instead, you imagine that it would not affect his performances, especially considering he was captain at West Ham.
“I’d give it to Rice so Odegaard can focus on improving his performances.”;
Ãdegaard joined Arsenal from Real Madrid a few years ago.
