EPL: It hurts – Arteta finally breaks silence on Liverpool winning title

Published on May 02, 2025 at 05:48 PM

Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta has congratulated Liverpool on winning the Premier League title this season.

However, Arteta admitted that it is “painful”; for his team to fall short in the title race for a third consecutive year.

Liverpool secured a resounding 5-1 victory over Arsenal’s North London rivals, Tottenham, last Sunday, a result that ensured they were out of reach of Arteta’s side with just four games remaining.

This marks the third successive season the Gunners have missed out on the title.

“I understand that Liverpool are a team that has been more consistent, and they possess many of the qualities necessary to win, but it’s very painful,”; Arteta told the media on Friday.

He continued: “I also want to take this opportunity to congratulate Liverpool for what they’ve achieved and the manner in which they’ve done it, how consistent they’ve been.

“And I believe they fully deserve to win it. They were the better team. They have so many attributes, and they’ve consistently had their squad available.

“We’ll try again. But until next season, we must focus on finishing this one strongly.”;
