Published on May 02, 2025 at 05:49 AM

Manchester United legend, Rio Ferdinand has singled out midfielder, Casemiro for praise as the Red Devils defeated Athletic Bilbao 3-0 in the UEFA Europa League semi-final first leg tie Thursday.

Ferdinand said the Brazilian is sensational and so disciplined during the encounter in Spain.

A goal from Casemiro and a brace from Bruno Fernandes gave Ruben Amorim’s side the victory over Athletic Bilbao.

“I don’t think Casemiro has put a foot wrong. He’s been sensational tonight. He has been so disciplined,”; Ferdinand said on TNT Sports’ commentary.

“People have been talking about getting rid of him, his legs have gone etcetera.

“But I tell you what, he’s come to the fore when they have needed him.

“He’s coaching this team through this and it’s a massive moment in the season for them,”; he said.

Casemiro joined Manchester United from Real Madrid in 2022.

The 33-year-old will hope to continue his impressive display when Man United host Athletic Bilbao in the return leg at Old Trafford next week.
